Dublin Matchplay Championships details

Posted on 31 May '12 by Dave Hayden II

From DCB Online

Just as with our recent Gents Strokeplay Championship, we have tried to make some positive changes with the Dublin Matchplay format which takes place next weekend (June 9th & 10th) for Gents, Ladies and Juveniles in all grades. Gone is the preliminary round on Friday nights, to now be played on Saturday morning. We hope that this will make the competition more complete and enjoyable for all concerned and remove the issue of travel on a weeknight.

The Senior Gents kicks off on Saturday morning at 9:30am in CPM before heading to Loughlinstown on Sunday for the final rounds. There are 6 preliminary games to be played at 9:30am to bring us to a field of 32 for the first round proper. The preliminary matches are as follows:

J. Chamberlain (Ierne) -v- G. McGreal (Old County)
J. Hoey (Erin's Isle) -v- G. Healy (Loughlinstown)
K. Maher (Lucan) -v- S. Keegan (Lucan)
J. McLoughlin (Erin's Isle) -v- P. Byrne (Glenville)
J. Joyce (Glenville) -v- T. Mason (Loughlinstown)
D. Healy (CPM) -v- S. Murray (Old County)

All other players are straight into round 1. We ask that players entered arrive at the course no later than 10:30am as we will be holding the open draw for the first round immediately upon the completion of the preliminary matches. Any player entered but not in attendance before the draw commences will be excluded from the draw.

There was an even entry of Inter players, so good news for the players in that grade is that there are no preliminary matches. The draw for the first round commences at 9:30am sharp in Loughlinstown on the Saturday. Please arrive at the course no later than 9:15am as any player entered but not in attendance before the draw commences will be excluded from the draw.

In the Junior grade, we need to run 3 preliminary games to get to the right number of players for round 1. Players involved in the following preliminary games must arrive at the Loughlinstown course no later than 11am on Saturday the 9th. All other players are asked to arrive for the first round draw no later than 12:15pm. Any player entered but not in attendance before the draw commences will be excluded from the draw.

Junior Preliminaries:

K. Redmond (Lucan) -v- T. Tracey (Loughlinstown)
J. Condron (Lucan) -v- P. Delaney (Erin's Isle)
P. Crinion (CYMC/LC) -v- T. Byrne (Old County)

In the Ladies Senior grade, we have four preliminary matches which commence at 9:30am in Ierne. Players are asked to arrive no later than 9:15am. The draw for the first round proper takes place immediately upon completion of the preliminaries, please arrive no later than 10:45am if you are in the first round draw. Any player entered but not in attendance before the draw commences will be excluded from the draw.

Senior Ladies Preliminaries:

S. Sheridan (Glenville) -v- G. Edwards (CYMC/LC)
G. Ward (Portmarnock) -v- L. Thomson (Glenville)
M. O'Brien (Lucan) -v- B. Furlong (Lucan)
M. O'Toole (Shandon) -v- P. Condron (Lucan)
