Ace of the Club
Are you the ace in the pack?

In 2026, a new year-long competition will take place in Lucan Pitch and Putt Club.

Players will have the opportunity to take part in designated weekend competitions, banking qualifying scores ahead of the Grand Final in September.

There will be an Overall Nett Competition and a separate Overall Gross Competition. Additional prizes, such as Ladies sections, may be added if entry numbers allow.

How It Works
From March to September, one 18-hole Strokeplay Gross competition and one 18-hole Strokeplay Nett competition each month will be designated as Ace of the Club events. An eighth event will also be designated during this period.

Players compete in the normal weekend competitions. However, for those who have entered Ace of the Club, their best Gross or Nett score (as appropriate) from each designated weekend will be banked and added to the online scoreboard.

For the Nett Competition, each player's handicap will be their current playing handicap on the day of the event. Once a Nett score has been banked, however, it will remain fixed and will not be adjusted if the player's handicap subsequently changes.

Once all eight events have taken place, each player's best four scores will be combined to determine if they will qualify for the Grand Final and this total will also form their starting total in the Grand Final*.

Example:
A player returns the following eight scores:
51, 50, 49, 54, 48, 53, 49, 52
Their best four are 48, 49, 49, 50, totalling 196.
So they would enter the Grand Final on –20.
*Players must return scores in at least four designated events to qualify for the Grand Final.

The Grand Finals
• The Gross Grand Final will take place on a Saturday in September.
• The Nett Grand Final will take place on a Sunday in September.
• Players may qualify for, and compete in, both Grand Finals.
• In each final, players will play a further 36 holes, which will be added to their carried-forward total.
• The winner, the Ace of the Club, in each event will be the player with the lowest overall score (carried-forward total, plus 36 hole Grand Final score).
• If any event finishes in a tie, a three-hole play-off (holes 16, 17, 18) will decide the winner. If still tied, a sudden-death play-off will begin at the 16th.

Entry & Prizemoney
• Entry fee is €10 per player, which covers all events.
• Players cannot enter individual events only.
• Entries close the day after the third designated event in each competition.
• Scores can only be banked after a player has entered.
Example: entering after Event 1 means only Events 2–8 can be banked.
• Prize money for each competition will depend on entry numbers.
We aim to return 100% of entry fees as prizes, with a 60/40 split in favour of the Nett competition.
