| This weekend in St Anne's Pitch and Putt in Cork we have 7 players representing the club in the National Championship. In the Junior Grade we have Alan Doyle. Recently Alan added another Dublin Jersey to his collection and he was in the rescheduled National Championship of 2019 played in St Anne's, so he will know the course and hopefully can put that knowledge to good use and make it through to the Sunday Playoff. Our Inter men playing in Cork are also Dublin Team bound John Mahony and Michael Byrne. John who was a senior for many years returning to the game in the inter grade and showing he hasn't lost his touch. If John can stay close to the lads at the top will have a great chance of winning. Michael has been a regular in the big events over the past few years. A man well capable of a big performance and if he gets a good start could power his way into the playoff on Sunday. To the Seniors now and we have 4 gents representing us, Darren O Reilly, Gareth Walsh, Barry Gorey and Gary Ryan. Starting with Darren who was the 2003 National Matchplay champion in Lucan while representing the CPM club. Darren has been in fine form recently with some great play in the qualifying for the National and also our own Handicap Matchplay where he was only beaten in the Semi Final. Darren has all the ability to win another National if he can get a strong Saturday performance in. Gareth Walsh is the next man. What a year for Gareth as he became a father and also has been asked to join the Senior Dublin Team panel. Gareth has all the skills to shoot a low score and get himself in the mix to win on Sunday to cap off what would be a fantastic season. Barry Gorey is on a fine run of form over the past few months. Starting with a great win in the RGSC scratch cup after been knocking on the door in a few previous scratch cups he finally got his well deserved win. Barry has been a fantastic player since he was a juvenile starting off in the Longmeadows club and I have no doubt will be in the running for a place in Sunday's playoff. Last but not least is Gary Ryan, After a couple of years in the senior grade Gary has started to show he has the ability to compete with the lads at the top of the game. Shooting some great scores in Lucan Competitions and also in scratch cups. The highlight would definitely be his performance in both qualifiers for the Leinster and the National this year with a fantastic 92 in Lucan followed by a 98 in Portmarknock to get the last spot in the National Qualifiers in Dublin. If he can keep up the strong scoring could have a good chance of making Sunday's playoff. I just want to wish all the lads playing the best of luck and I think all members of the club will join me in wishing each one of our players the best of luck and hopefully add another national winner to our club.
